This lovely strathspey is the composition of Robert Lowe, brother of the more prolific Joseph Lowe, and appears in the six volumes of the 1844 Lowe Collection. The Lowe family were musicians and dancing masters who spread across Scotland in the 19th century, with Joseph in particular acquiring significant fame among the highland gentry as a dancing master, boxer, and fly-fisher. Joseph established himself in Edinburgh and Inverness and taught dancing to the family of queen Victoria in the 1850s, whilst Robert remained in Brechin.

This tune remains popular to this day, though my version of this strathspey has a few small variations from Lowe's original, with a slightly embellished final two bars.
